Authorities in Myanmar have taken action against 17 petrol stations for failing to comply with fuel sales regulations, according to the Ministry of Energy.
Another 24 stations received strong warnings after being caught selling fuel without scanning barcodes or QR codes.
The government has introduced an upgraded system using barcode and QR code mechanisms to ensure smoother fuel purchases, with quotas based on engine capacity.
Complaints from the public about station closures, failure to scan codes, overpricing, and illegal sales prompted the enforcement measures.
The crackdown aims to restore order in fuel distribution and protect consumers from unfair practices.
Officials emphasized that compliance with the new system is essential to maintain transparency and efficiency in the country’s fuel market.
