Cagayan de Oro City’s inclusion in the lower tier of the World Travel Index safety rankings should not be seen solely as negative, according to Police Regional Office 10 (PRO‑10) Spokesperson PMaj Joan Navarro.

“We are in the right direction!” Navarro emphasized in an interview with Bombo Radyo, explaining that the city’s security situation is actually mid‑rank based on their assessment.

She noted that this reflects ongoing improvements in peace and order in CDO.

Navarro added that such data is used by security forces to measure performance and strengthen policies for public protection.

She acknowledged that public perception plays a major role in safety surveys, which is why the police continue to enhance visibility and services so residents feel their presence and protection.

At present, PRO‑10 assures that measures are being further reinforced to boost public confidence and ensure the city’s safety continues to improve.
