The dispute between Senator Rodante Marcoleta and Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Ping Lacson carries deeper implications, according to labor law expert Atty. Proculo Sarmen.
Speaking to Bombo Radyo, Sarmen said the incident reflects how certain Senate deliberations and investigations have become highly politicized.
He explained that Marcoleta entered the interpellation because his name was directly mentioned in issues raised during a privilege speech.
Sarmen noted the contrasting approaches of the two senators, shaped by their backgrounds: Marcoleta as a lawyer and Lacson as a former police investigator.
This difference in professional training, he said, influenced their distinct styles in handling issues.
He emphasized that the clash is not merely personal but highlights the need for a deeper understanding of Senate processes and rules
