Patrick Allan Callanta, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer of OCD-10, announced that their office is actively implementing measures to prepare for the impacts of El Niño.

In line with RDRRMC Advisory Number 2026-12 issued on March 31, all local government units and partner agencies were urged to strengthen their mitigation and preparedness activities.

Callanta revealed that continuous monitoring is being conducted on weather conditions, water and power supply, and the dissemination of accurate information to the public to prevent risks such as heat stroke and forest fires.

Relevant agencies have also convened for a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment to discuss proper strategies in addressing possible water shortages and reduced agricultural yield.

With this, the Task Force El Niño is closely coordinating to cascade advisories to communities, ensuring public safety during the drought season.
