As the numbers between the majority and minority in the Senate are now evenly matched, IP Rights Defender Wilson C. Amad expressed the need to adopt the jury system in the country.
Amad believes that such a system would be more effective so that the fate of the accused or those involved in major national issues would not rest solely on one person’s decision.
Because of this, he explained the selection of twelve jury members from various sectors to ensure fair judgment and prevent manipulation of cases.
Thus, Amad emphasized that it is time to change the course of justice in the Philippines so that the poor will no longer suffer from the long wait for sentencing.
