Professor Christopher Ryan Maboloc from Ateneo de Davao warned about the dangers of taking any action that could incite war between the Philippines and China in the West Philippine Sea.
Maboloc clarified that even with our alliance with the United States, it is not a guarantee that damage can be avoided, as our country would still be the one to suffer in the end if conflict were to occur, similar to the situation in Ukraine.
The professor believes that the best approach is to continue diplomatic engagement with other ASEAN nations to ensure regional peace.
Consequently, he emphasized that prioritizing dialogue is better than relying on force, which could lead the country to severe defeat.
