IMPASUGONG, Bukidnon – Indigenous People students of Luyungan IP High School receive goods and services from the government facilitated by the 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion, together with partner-stakeholders inside the institution at Nasuli, Bangcud, Bukidnon, October 11, 2019.

A short program signified the City Health Office, City Agriculture, City Mayor’s Office, Philippine Army and partner-stakeholders’ pledges to give any support and help to the students. Goods such as biscuits, sanitary pads, and medicines were distributed to the 198 students of the said school.

These goods are a big help in the sustainment of the academic performance of the students. Due to the lack of sleeping beds, log-cutting services were also offered to the cut-down pine trees inside the campus.

The overwhelmed joy of the faculty and staff of the institution amplified as the school principal, Mr. Edsel James R. Quemado set his heartfelt gratitude to the generosity of the people, “The happiness in our hearts is immeasurable. There is no greater blessing than you as instruments to inspire these children and help them to reach and achieve their dreams.”

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana, the commanding officer of the 8th Infantry Battalion told the 198 students to focus on their studies and pledged to increase the influx of donations through stakeholder engagements, “We, in the government, will do our best to bring closer the services provided and offered by the government to this institution, especially to the students of Luyungan.”

Luyungan IP High school is a sole high school of Indigenous people in Southeast Asia catering 198 students. These students coming from different tribes and places are staying inside the campus for the whole school days and been experiencing setbacks that affect their education. The Philippine Army and the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay city will continue to assist the students of any help they can. (1Lt CABBIGAT)
