CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The chief of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and now, Cabinet Officers for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) chairman in Northern Mindanao Secretary Martin Andanar is in Bukidnon to discuss peace initiatives and of the Duterte Administration.
According to Secretary Andanar, the CORDS, is implemented under Executive Order no. 70 which designates Cabinet members to supervise development and security efforts in different regions in the Philippines.
Andanar remarks, that the first meeting in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon is a historic one.
“Si Secretary Andanar ang itinalaga ni Pangulong Duterte, bilang CORDS po ng Region 10. Kaya ako po ay nagagalak sa akong katungdanan nga akoy gi-assign diri kay taga Region-10 man ko. Ang akong root naman diri sa Cagayan de Oro. So tomorrow will be a historic meeting in Malaybalay Bukidnon. This will be the first time that the CORDS convene for the first time in the Philippines”, Andanar said.
On Friday, Andanar with Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, thechairman sa Regional Peace and Order Council in Northern Mindanao and Bukidnon Provincial Governor Jose Maria Zubiri will convene together with cabinets secretaries from the DND and DSWD in order to create a Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC).
The task force is set to implement localize peace talks with the Communist Party of the Philippines – New Peoples Army (CPP-NPA).
Accordingly, the peace talks will be observed only for six months.
Coupled with the peace initiates of the present administrations is the assurance that the government will sustain delivering basic services and livelihood the region.
To date, Armed forces of the Philippines noted that Nothern Mindanao, particularly in Bukidnon, Misamis Orienta and Occidental have been infested by NPA rebels for more than 50 years.
These identified conflict-affected areas will be covered under the executive order.
