The local government of Cagayan de Oro will conduct an information and education campaign during flag-raising ceremonies to inform students about proper security measures inside schools.
This initiative is part of strategies to protect learners from potential threats following the Tacloban City shooting incident.
City Mayor Rolando Klarex Uy convened an emergency meeting with Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Director Colonel Dexter Paje and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Roy Gazo to discuss these measures.
According to Mayor’s spokesperson Janboy Actub, the LGU also plans to assign additional police officers to schools as classes have already resumed.
Actub added that they requested funding from the special education fund to hire more security guards and that the mayor also asked for additional watchmen from the LGU to further strengthen school safety.
