CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Cagayan de Oro City’s Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) has expressed concern that no residents from the areas slated for demolition inside Camp Evangelista, Barangay Patag, have registered for the government’s relocation program.
In an interview, acting CHUDD Manager for Demolition Atty. Samuel Rollo assured that the local government is prepared to assist those affected by the demolition.
However, Atty. Rollo emphasized that residents must register with CHUDD to determine if they qualify for relocation benefits.
“The local government is always ready to assist the victims of demolition,” Atty. Rollo said.
“But they must first register to see if they pass the requirements to be granted relocation”, he added
Atty. Rollo acknowledged the limitations in the city’s capacity and budget for providing free housing to the displaced families from the 4th Infantry Division (ID) Philippine Army camp.
Despite these constraints, he assured that the city offers “unlimited” services to support the urban poor.
“The city has limited capacity and funds when it comes to the proposed free housing for the homeless inside the 4th ID Philippine Army camp,” Atty. Rollo explained.
However, even with limited funds, Rollo said that the city’s services for the urban poor is ‘unlimited.
