Office of Civil Defense Region-10 Regional Director Antonio Sugarol advised local government units across Northern Mindanao that strong El Niño conditions will peak in late 2026 and persist through early 2027.
Sugarol instructed municipal authorities to activate local contingency plans and deploy preparedness interventions against projected below-normal rainfall and prolonged dry spells.
He urged regional agencies to strengthen public information campaigns to mitigate agricultural and water supply risks.
