Cagayan de Oro’s garbage collection has returned to normal operations after a brief slowdown in recent days, according to City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) Manager Bing Mabilen.

In an interview, Mabilen explained that some collection units of the city’s third-party contractor were affected by complaints from garbage workers regarding their wages and number of working days, which temporarily disrupted certain routes.

He assured the public that regular collection has resumed across all areas of the city, despite ongoing labor issues involving personnel of Standard System Waters and Waste Water Management Inc.

Mabilen emphasized that the contractor remains responsible for ensuring waste is collected to prevent trash buildup in communities, and urged residents to continue proper waste disposal as the city government works to maintain consistent and reliable services.
