Comelec Cagayan de Oro has accelerated operational preparations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections to prevent fiscal waste regardless of potential scheduling changes.
First District Election Officer Atty. Dexter Nagtalon confirmed that local voter lists are being finalized ahead of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) filing window set for September 28 to October 5.
Despite pending postponement discussions in Congress, local offices remain prepared for the official election period starting September 23, which includes standard gun bans and public works restrictions.
Nagtalon emphasized that updated voter lists and technical preparations remain valid for future election cycles.
