CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY- Philippine’s Commission on Elections (Comelec) give assurance to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other security forces that they will sit down and evaluate the recent plea on cancelling the security aides of 349 suspected narco-politicians that are under the list of President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-illegal drug campaign.
This after when PNP Chief Director Police General Oscar Albayalde personally asked together with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to Comelec during a security meeting held in Camp Aguinaldo days ago.
In an interview over Bombo Radyo,Comelec spokeseperson James Jimenez said that they currently discussed along with their commissioners the request of Albayalde whether be granted or not.
According to Jimenez,they will seek enough basis as to give in the latest petition of PNP ensuring the peaceful conduct of 2019 midterm elections in the country on May 13.
Jimenez added that after the observance of the Holy Week,the agency will come out with a decision regarding the matter.
Earlier,both Comelec and PNP issued a directive that put the whole region of Mindanao under hot spot category due to security challenges in the upcoming elections
