Medical Officer of DepEd Cagayan de Oro, Dr. Mark Miso, assured the public that the deworming program conducted in public schools is safe, following reported incidents in Cavite.

Despite these concerns, the doctor stated that based on his 12 to 14 years of experience, no student in the city has been hospitalized due to the medication.

Dr. Miso explained that they continue to provide deworming tablets to students from Grade 7 to Grade 12 but are strictly implementing a policy of obtaining consent from parents or guardians.

While awaiting further instructions from the Department of Health, the official urged continued coordination between schools, the local government, and the City Health Office to ensure the children’s safety.
