The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 10 has clarified that the second tranche of the wage increase under Wage Order No. 24 will take effect on May 1, granting workers in Northern Mindanao an additional ₱14 in their daily pay.

During the 124th Labor Day and World Day for Safety and Health at Work press conference, DOLE Region 10 Technical Director Joffrey Suyao explained that unless an official request to postpone is filed, the wage hike must be implemented as scheduled.

He emphasized that the wage board has not observed double‑digit inflation in the region one of the key triggers for a wage review and therefore sees no basis to suspend the increase.

Suyao further noted that while there have been informal suggestions to delay the implementation, no official petitions from labor groups, employers, or other sectors have been received.

As a result, the wage board is bound by its rules to proceed with the adjustment.
