Geopolitical Analyst Prof. Lucanus Azrael T. Igot condemned an AI-generated video from China Daily that depicted Filipinos as monkeys wearing Barong Tagalog.
The expert described the material as a form of protest by the Chinese government regarding the 2016 arbitral tribunal decision, which the Philippines won.
Prof. Igot added that government officials, including diplomats from the Department of Foreign Affairs, consider the caricature a dehumanizing and racist act.
Despite this, he stated that the country continues its efforts to prevent China and other Southeast Asian nations from overlapping into the territory of the West Philippine Sea.
