CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – ‘Spare the religious sites, and shun away from wearing political colors’.
This was a simple message from the Department of Interior and Local Government, on Maundy Thursday.
The DILG-10 Regional Director Edward Bhagwani told Bombo Radyo that political candidates should take some time exploring their faith.
While the Christian Community ends the Lenten Season on Easter Sunday, Bhagwani still advised all candidates to observe delicadeza on Good Friday and Black Satuday.
Further, the DILG official spoke to Bombo Radyo and clarified that there are no official instructions should they campaign on the remaining days of Lent.
“Wala man ta’y direct nga instruction nga dili mangampanya. Pero, of course ato nalang pahinamngo agi’g respeto labina gyud sa Biernes Santos. Siguro ila pud tagaan ug time ilang kaugalingon, ug ang mga tawo ug pukos sa time sa time sa cuaresma.” Baghwani said.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Comelec Commissioner Luie Guia declares that candidates should refrain from any form of campaigning during these two days in respect for Lent.
