Lawyer Nazir Ynawat, national president of the Alliance of Advocates of Federalism in the Philippines, criticized the government for focusing on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, noting that Congress still has 60 session days to deliberate on the matter.

He urged lawmakers to prioritize more pressing national concerns, particularly the impact of rising tensions among Israel, the United States, and Iran.

Ynawat warned that the ongoing conflict could seriously affect the Philippine economy, pointing to fuel price hikes of more than ₱10 for diesel and over ₱5 for gasoline, which could trigger increases in the cost of basic goods.

He described the situation as a looming national emergency that requires an “all-of-government approach” to mitigate its effects on the public.

Ynawat called on the government not only to assure citizens that the situation is under control but also to lay out concrete measures to protect public interest.
