CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – In a powerful display of national pride, Filipino boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will lead their delegation at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Clad in stunning barongs designed by Francis Libiran, they’ll embody not only athletic prowess but also the rich cultural heritage of their homeland.

The piña-jusi fabric, a traditional Filipino textile, forms the base, while intricate details like the detachable silk sling and embroidered patterns pay homage to both the sun’s life-giving rays and the bravery of the Pintados warriors.

Every element of this unique attire signifies the deep connection between these athletes and their nation.

The grand opening of this years olympics will be on July 27.
