CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – A raging fire tore through the VIP Hotel on Velez St. early Sunday morning, causing a staggering P900,000 in damages and injuring two people.
Fire officials say the fire erupted in the hotel lobby around 5:46 am, forcing a frantic evacuation of all 21 guests from nine occupied rooms.
Thankfully, no lives were lost.
The VIP Hotel scrambled to relocate its shaken guests to the Maxandrea Hotel.
Hotel administrators assure costumers to cover all relocation costs.
One hotel security guard, on the front lines of the evacuation, suffered smoke inhalation and required medical attention.
A panicked guest was also injured during the chaotic escape.
Adding to the chaos, the cause of the fire remains a mystery, with authorities struggling to pinpoint what sparked the blaze.
