CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines- In a swift and aggressive move, the Iligan City Police Office Task Force Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) raided D’Morvie Suites on June 30, 2024, dismantling a trafficking ring and rescuing four victims, two of them minors.
The operation netted a 44-year-old security guard, a resident of Purok 5, Canaway, Brgy. Tibanga, Iligan City.
The suspect was already arrested twice for similar offenses in 2017 and 2020 (R.A. No. 9165 violations), allegedly arranged sexual encounters for his victims.
One adult victim even served as his accomplice.
Police, acting as potential clients, infiltrated the operation, confirming the suspect’s illegal activities.
The raid yielded a cellular phone, P6,000.00 in cash, and three counterfeit P1,000 bills – tools of the suspect’s vile trade.
The suspect now sits in custody at PS5 ICPO, facing charges under R.A. No. 9208 as amended (Trafficking in Persons Act).
The PNP vows to see this predator through the justice system.
“We will not tolerate this evil in our communities,” declared PBGEN RICARDO G LAYUG JR, Regional Director, PRO10.
He commended the officers involved and reiterated the PNP’s unwavering commitment to dismantle trafficking rings and protect the vulnerable.
“This is just the beginning,” he emphasized.
“We will relentlessly pursue these criminals and bring them to justice. Our fight against trafficking in persons continues!”
