CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Two identified rebels died at an encounter in San Rafael, Talakag Bukidnon, on Sunday.
Brigadier General Edgardo de Leon confirmed to Bombo Radyo CdeO the firefight between troops of 65IB againsts fully armed members of the communist party, the New Peoples Army (NPA)
The encounter lasted 10 minutes, which resulted to the death of certain “Bibs”, as identified by a former rebel, and another unidentified armed men.
Recovered with the dead rebels were two M-16 and an M-14 rifles.
BrigGen De Leon believed that most of the members of the NPA fighters were severely wounded since they miscalculated the force of the 65IB around the area.
Accordingly, the troop led by 2nd Lieutenant Neri are still on hot pursuit operation againsts more or less 20 guerilla from North Central Mindanao Regional Command.
