CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – In a bold move towards strengthening the fight against New Peoples Army recruitment in schools, teachers of Malaybalay City National Science High School formed a core group to combat insurgency, on Tuesday.

The core group called “Sandigan Teachers”, aims to solidify the school’s advocacy for the protection of the students, teaching and non-teaching personnel of Malaybalay City National Science High School.

Accordingly, the group consists of teachers volunteering to support students’ activities promoting peace and combat against insurgency.

A symposium was held in the school at Aglayan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon to complement the students and parents core group which was also created last month.

The members if 8th Infantry Battalion and representatives from National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Region X, were present at the said activity.

They discussed the manner how these rebels pour poisonous ideology to ideosyncrasies, thereby recruiting the minds in the school.

After the lectures, the SANDIGAN Teachers core group was founded

Each members pledge whole-heartedly to support for the protection of students and children againsts insurgency.

SANDIGAN teachers in collaboration with the core groups from the parents and students aims to oversee the welfare of the students to prevent them from being lured by the Communist NPA Terrorists.

Secondary Schools Principal Paul Orong, stressed that the school will surely uplift activities that promotes patriotism and nationalism all for the love of our country.

“Wherever we looked at, every success and failure of an individual finds its roots from the family. And we are part of that family. We must see to it that we contribute to their success and not on their failures,” Orong said.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana, commanding officer of the 8th Infantry Battalion, emphasized the importance of the community in the advocacy.

“We believe that through the genuine commitment of our schools, teachers, parents and students, we will be able to prevent unwanted loss of innocent lives. Our children are our future. We need to build them strong and resilient. Thus, we must not allow the NPAs to touch them and use them for their personal interests”, Illana said.

The Philippine Army is optimistic that the positive actions coming from the students, parents, teachers and the schools, will be a big help in protecting children and the whole community from being recruited by the CNTs.
