Misamis Oriental 1st District Representative Karen Lagbas sought to reassure her constituents, many of whom are strong supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte, following the overwhelming impeachment vote in the House.
Lagbas acknowledged their sentiments and principles but emphasized that lawmakers must also consider their broader responsibility as legislators.
She explained that the current situation surrounding the Vice President requires a calm perspective and adherence to the proper legal process.
She added that while public opinion in her district may be divided, it is crucial to maintain respect for constitutional procedures and the rule of law.
Choosing constitutional integrity over political loyalty is what matters most at this time, she said.
