Team Northern Mindanao Stars continues to dominate at the 65th Palarong Pambansa in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, securing four more gold medals in various sporting events.
In boxing, Remias Jr. Paciones of Lanao del Norte clinched the gold medal in the Junior Boys – Pin Weight (44–46kg), while Mark Joseph Manquiquis of Iligan City triumphed in the Minimum Weight (46–48kg) Youth Boys category.
Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro boxer Cris Gabriel Caranay secured silver in the Fly Weight (48–50kg) category, and Jany Soledad of Lanao del Norte took bronze in the Light Bantam Weight (50–52kg) division.
In track and field, Tangub City’s Katherine G. Natividad finished first in the Elementary Girls 800-Meter Run, delighting her coach, Charlee V. Manon-og, who celebrated the team’s outstanding victory.
Taekwondo athletes from Northern Mindanao also impressed, earning two golds, one silver, and three bronze medals. Lucas Leonardo Cabangca of Cagayan de Oro secured the championship in the Kyorugi Secondary Boys – Category 6, while Julia Kris Oñate won gold in Kyorugi Secondary Girls – Category 4.
Bryaden Evan Patague of Iligan City earned silver in Kyorugi Secondary Boys – Category 5, and Cagayan de Oro’s Ealthea Mandalunez took bronze in Kyorugi Secondary Girls – Category 4.
Bukidnon’s Hannaj Aaliyah Medado and Dennis Angelo Baysa also bagged bronze medals in Kyorugi Secondary Girls – Category 5 and Kyorugi Secondary Boys – Category 7, respectively.
Currently, Team Northern Mindanao Stars ranks 5th with 31 gold, 25 silver, and 45 bronze medals. The National Capital Region (NCR) remains in the top spot, leading with 114 gold, 69 silver, and 49 bronze medals.
