Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando Uy has issued Executive Order No. 102, series of 2026, directing all local government offices to conserve fuel and electricity amid rising global energy concerns linked to tensions in the Middle East.

City Hall spokesperson Janboy Actub explained that the measure aims to reduce operational costs by limiting unnecessary use of government vehicles and ensuring more efficient fuel consumption.

The order also requires offices to cut electricity usage, including turning off air-conditioning units during certain hours and relying instead on electric fans and lights only when necessary.

emphasized that the initiative aligns with the national government’s call for energy conservation, positioning Cagayan de Oro as a proactive partner in mitigating the potential economic impact of global instability.
