Former Misamis Oriental Vice Governor and economist Joey Pelaez blasted the government for spending time on impeachment cases against Vice President Sara Duterte and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., calling the move a waste while urgent national issues remain unresolved.
He urged leaders to prioritize improving the lives of Filipinos, strengthening public services, and launching programs to attract foreign investors.
Pelaez warned that investors shy away from the Philippines when politics dominates discussions and no clear economic plan exists.
He also flagged persistent problems in infrastructure projects, including flood control works, where errors have already been reported in several critical undertakings.
Pelaez insisted that unity and a focus on economic growth would unlock more opportunities for the country and uplift the welfare of its people.
He demanded that economic development and public service take precedence over political disputes.
