CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – In a major win against communist rebels, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) arrested two key members through separate operations conducted across Bukidnon and Misamis Occidental on June 20, 2024.

These arrests demonstrate the unwavering commitment of law enforcement to dismantle rebel groups.

Police apprehended alias “Migz,” a 38-year-old resident of Purok-8, Sinabuagan, Valencia City, Bukidnon, a high-ranking member of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Officers arrested Migz for violating Republic Act No. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act), as amended by Republic Act No. 10364, with no bailbond recommended.

In a separate operation, the CIDG MISOCC PFU Tracker Team, along with other units, arrest another communist rebel identified as “Kikong”, a 71-year-old farmer from Calamba, Misamis Occidental.

These charges include Rebellion (Criminal Case No. 92-10-292 dated December 7, 2021) and multiple counts of Murder (Criminal Case Nos. 92-10-230 to 92-10-250 dated July 10, 2018). Similar to Migz, Kikong has no recommended bail.

Kikong was previously a member of Guerrilla Front Unit PANGGUBATAN in Zamboanga del Sur and had been in hiding. He lead the group within the provincial unit of the Zamboanga del Sur PPO (Provincial Police Office) under Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9).

Police Brigadier General Ricardo Layug, Jr., Regional Director of PRO10, commended the joint efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army’s 48th Infantry Battalion. Their collaboration and courage, he said, ensured justice prevailed and sent a strong message to rebel groups.

General Layug reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment to upholding law and order.
