The Police Regional Office 10 is pursuing the real masterminds behind the widespread illegal mining operations in parts of Northern Mindanao.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission acts on reports of massive illegal mining in Opol, Misamis Oriental last week.
PRO 10 regional director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano confirms that authorities have only captured part of a large syndicate, filing charges against two Chinese nationals and 22 Filipino workers for violating the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.
He states that he wants to unmask those truly behind the operations, stressing that illegal mining forms part of the issues President Bongbong Marcos orders the PNP to resolve.
