Residents of Barangay Lumbia in Cagayan de Oro intensify their complaints over a severe fly infestation that disrupts their daily lives.

Ana Leizel, one of the affected residents, insists that the flies originate from a poultry farm in Baungon, Bukidnon, reportedly owned by a city councilor.

Families in Navona Court Subdivision, numbering more than 50 households, suffer from the same problem.

Leizel describes the flies as unusually thick, swarming in such numbers that they resemble poultry floating around the community.

She emphasizes that the situation has gone beyond ordinary nuisance, threatening food safety and sanitation.

Residents also protest the foul odor from the animals, which spreads across the area and disturbs their living conditions.

They fear that prolonged exposure to the infestation could lead to health risks, particularly contamination of food and water.

Community members demand that authorities inspect the poultry farm to determine whether it complies with operational and harvesting standards.

They stress that the farm’s practices may have triggered the infestation, and they want officials to enforce stricter regulations to protect public health.

The residents express hope that local government agencies and environmental authorities will act swiftly, noting that the infestation has already caused significant distress and disrupted their quality of life.
