A group of taxi drivers in the city has rejected the proposal to simply collect fares through fixed tariffs as a way to increase rates.
CAFITADA President Bernie Jamaca, in an interview with Bombo Radyo, made it clear that drivers prefer recalibration of taxi meters, dismissing the suggestion from the Transport Development Office as unfair and burdensome to passengers.
Instead, the drivers favor a formal adjustment of the meter, raising the flag-down rate from ₱40 to ₱50, and the per-kilometer charge from ₱13.50 to ₱15.
Jamaca also noted that the waiting time fee per minute, currently ₱2, is proposed to increase to ₱3.
