Transport groups are calling on the government to expedite the distribution of fuel subsidies to drivers and operators as oil prices continue to rise.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, UNIDA President Joel Gabatan said consultations are ongoing within the transport sector regarding the status of the subsidy and when it will be implemented once fuel prices reach the set threshold.

Gabatan noted that many drivers are already struggling with the high cost of gasoline and diesel, which has severely affected their daily income and livelihood.

He expressed hope that the government will fast-track the subsidy process to help ease the financial burden on public transport workers.
