Residents of Adela Subdivision, Barangay Camaman-an were alarmed after discovering the presence of 81mm mortar shells hidden for a long time inside a house, prompting an immediate response from the police and Bomb Squad last night at 10:30.
According to information gathered by the Bombo Radyo Team, the mortar shells had been hidden for three years in the home of an alias “Koy.”
It is reported that they were collected from the garbage due to the homeowner’s habit of picking up random items and storing them behind their house. A neighbor spotted the items and quickly alerted the PS2 Cogon Police Station out of concern for residents’ safety.
Police and the Bomb Squad verified that the mortar shells were still active, and the Bomb Squad has since retrieved two of them.
