The Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro (LGU-CDO), through the City Nutrition Committee, officially opened the city’s celebration of the 51st Nutrition Month on July 2 at the City Tourism Hall.

The launch began with a motorcade from Rodelsa Circle and concluded at City Hall, followed by the oath-taking ceremony of members of the City Nutrition Committee, Barangay Nutrition Committees, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.

This year’s Nutrition Month theme, “Food at Nutrition Security Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain Karapatan Natin!” was also unveiled during the event.

Select barangays—Bayanga, Iponan, and Lumbia—received vegetable seeds and seedlings to support local food production.

The activity also recognized winners of the BNC Nutrifloat contest, where Barangay Lumbia emerged as champion, followed by Barangay Carmen in second place and Barangay Indahag in third.

The celebration was attended by City Nutrition Action Officer Caroline Cabunoc, City Health Officer Dr. Rachel Daba-Dilla, Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Ameerah Sani-Racman, National Nutrition Council Region X OIC Reginaldo T. Guillen, and City Councilor Dr. Paolo Gaane, representing Mayor Klarex Uy, along with members of the City and Barangay Nutrition Committees and scholars.

Under the leadership of Mayor Uy, the City Nutrition Committee continues to uphold its reputation, having earned the prestigious Nutrition Honor Award—a symbol of excellence in nutrition governance.
