The Promotion of Church People’s Response in Northern Mindanao strongly condemned the ongoing attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, warning that these actions heighten the risk of a wider regional war.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Rev. Irma Balaba stressed that civilians—especially women and children—are the most vulnerable in the escalating conflict.

She expressed concern over reports of schools being hit by military strikes, which could worsen the plight of innocent victims.

The group also raised alarm for the estimated 2.2 million Filipinos working in the Middle East, noting that many churches have activated migrant ministry programs to monitor and support overseas workers.

Balaba further urged the Philippine government to scrap the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) and strengthen an independent foreign policy to avoid entanglement in external conflicts.
