The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Misamis Oriental will launch a joint investigation into claims that a Capitol-owned backhoe was used for mining activities.

In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo, Celso Abucejo, special assistant to Governor Juliet Uy, clarified that the governor never ordered the equipment for illegal mining, but only for road repair in Barangay Sinalac, Initao, as requested by the IPMR representative.

Abucejo stressed that if the backhoe was indeed used for mining, it was not under the governor’s directive.

Governor Uy welcomed the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s cooperation in probing the operator and urged all concerned agencies to participate, vowing not to tolerate any proven violations of law or exploitation of the province’s environment.
