Social media was left in a frenzy after the PNP Cateel Municipal Police Station posted a list of 14 active wanted persons the other day at 8:50 AM.

According to Cobbie Jan Canda, Chairperson of Kabataan Partylist, who was among those included in the wanted list, nine of the people on the list are activists and students, while the others are women and human rights workers.

Canda questioned the apparent double standard, pointing out that their photos and information were released despite having no warrants of arrest against them.

Even though the PNP station chief apologized through Davao Today for what was claimed to be a photo error, Canda disclosed that the incident had already caused significant damage to their reputations and their families.

The victim added that posting their faces and names was unjust, especially since others who actually have pending cases—such as for frustrated homicide—were protected and had their faces blurred.
