Frank Araneta of Akbayan Youth explained that almost every day, Filipinos experience mistreatment because of their gender identity.
Because of this, he stated that the SOGIE Equality Bill is an important measure to formally recognize the status of SOGIESC present in each of us.
He added that the bill would provide necessary protection against various forms of discrimination, harassment, and violence in society.
In his statement, Araneta stressed that the call for equality is not just a simple request, but a declaration of the fundamental human right to live and love without fear.
Finally, he explained that the goal of the bill is to ensure that every individual can live with dignity.
