Romeo Aclo, Program Head of DepEd Cagayan de Oro, called on parents, teachers, and barangay officials to work together to ensure the safety of children following the earthquake that struck on the first day of classes for school year 2026–2027.
Aclo assured that classes will continue through the use of opening blocks, allowing schools to quickly adjust in case of facility shortages.
He also reminded parents to obtain information only from trusted sources such as the City Information Office and schools, to avoid unnecessary panic.
The official expressed gratitude for the support of the community and local government in ensuring that learning remains uninterrupted. He emphasized that through resilience and discernment, the future of children will remain bright despite the challenges they face.
