Fr. Der John Faborada of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro’s Social Communication Apostolate emphasized that disasters do not choose their victims.
He explained that the world is imperfect, and therefore accidents and calamities are inevitable.The priest added that no one should judge who deserves to be struck by tragedy, since God loves all people regardless of their circumstances.
He urged the public not to stop at prayer alone, but to also extend concrete assistance to those affected.
Finally, he stressed that through acts of compassion and helping one another, victims will more deeply feel the presence of God amid the trials they face.
