The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 10 is strictly monitoring municipalities in Bukidnon that may be affected by the El Niño phenomenon this July.

DA-10 Director Jose Apollo Pacamalan stated that by utilizing granular data from PAGASA, they have disseminated information to every town so that local authorities can identify areas likely to experience extreme heat.

While color-coded maps indicate that many areas in the province are currently in a normal state, the director urged farmers to accelerate their planting schedules throughout June and July.

Furthermore, he explained that their current strategy involves identifying areas with strategic food production value to prioritize their protection.

Although projections suggest that some areas could see an 80% to 90% reduction in rainfall from late July through August, the agency remains optimistic that conditions will recover by September.
