Alvic Marie Francisco of the Child Protection unit of DepEd Cagayan de Oro announced that part of their program is conducting an orientation for parents on the fourth day of the school’s “opening block,” which was last June 11.
She added that this step is important because the agency has issued a new order that classifies offenses related to bullying cases.According to Francisco, schools previously struggled to enforce discipline due to the fear of violating child protection policies.
However, the guidelines for categorizing offenses into first, second, and third levels are now much clearer.
Because of this, they also conducted an orientation for students on their third day of school to ensure they are aware of the corresponding penalties if they engage in any acts that endanger their fellow students.
Ultimately, the goal of these activities is to provide parents and students with sufficient knowledge to prevent the rise of bullying cases within schools.
