Bishop Joseph Lagumbay of the Catholic Universalist Church of Asia Pacific stated that the SOGIE Equality Bill still requires further refinement due to certain provisions considered vague and still under debate.

Among the issues he highlighted is the ongoing discussion on the use of restrooms, which remains one of the main points of contention in the proposed law.

Despite these concerns, Bishop Lagumbay expressed his support for the immediate passage of the bill to provide necessary protection to those affected.

However, he stressed that deeper discussions and careful planning of the bill’s provisions are needed before its full implementation.

At present, he is urging lawmakers to first resolve the problems and questions surrounding the issue to ensure the successful passage of the measure.
