Attorney Angel Lim, former Provincial Administrator, explained in an interview with Bombo Radyo that committee hearings conducted outside the Senate building are legal.
He clarified that committee chairpersons have the authority to set the location of hearings outside the Senate Chamber, in line with institutional rules.
Lim emphasized that records obtained from such hearings remain valid and legal. He added that this practice is not new, as lawmakers in Congress previously held similar meetings in hotels in Cagayan de Oro.
Finally, he assured that there is no need to worry about the hearings organized by Senator Pia Cayetano’s group, since these are part of the Senate’s official functions.
