Authorities arrested a 62-year-old Chinese national known as alias Ong after he attempted to evade a checkpoint in Linamon, Lanao del Norte.

Following a hot pursuit operation, his vehicle was intercepted at Balite Drive Extension, Barangay Suarez, Iligan City.

According to Police Regional Office 10, 21 sacks of suspected mineral ores weighing 840 kilos and valued at ₱105,000 were confiscated.

Since the suspect failed to present legal documents for the cargo, he now faces charges for violating the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.

PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano, Regional Director of PRO-10, assured strict enforcement of environmental laws and vowed not to tolerate violations.
