Dr. Ronald L. Adamat, Chairman of Volunteer Individuals for Peace, stressed that the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte is clearly a form of political persecution.
He believes that if the Vice President endures this process, there is a strong chance she could become the next president of the country in 2028.
He also questioned the stance of the 13 senators comprising the majority, especially reports suggesting that the required votes for conviction might be lowered to 15 or 14.
Dr. Adamat reminded everyone that under Article 11, Section 3, Subsection 6 of the Constitution, no person can be convicted without the concurrence of two-thirds of all Senate members.
Thus, he emphasized that two-thirds support is necessary for the process to continue lawfully.
