The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO) of Misamis Oriental is strengthening preparations against the threat of El Niño.

Officer-in-Charge Michelle Ross Lace said that although no state of emergency has been declared, they are distributing hoses and other assistance to barangays and towns such as Alubijid and Gingoog City.

Under Governor Juliette Uy’s administration, a ₱10 million Solar-Powered Drip Irrigation System will be implemented for various local government units and people’s organizations.

Another ₱10 million has been allocated for the Community-Based Vegetable Production Program to expand backyard gardening and household food production.

Lace encouraged farmers and fisherfolk to approach their office to benefit from programs that can improve production and livelihood.
