Some transport groups have opposed the touted transition from gas-powered vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) in the country’s transport landscape.
In an exclusive interview with BOMBO RADYO, Lalaine Escobidal, president of the PN Roa Canitoan Transport Cooperative (PONTRANSCO), said there are heavy reasons why some transport groups remain hesitant to shift to electric vehicles (EVs).
She stressed that while EVs are good for addressing climate change, a massive challenge remains regarding the lack of charging stations in the country.
Aside from this, operators also complained about the extremely high prices of batteries, which add to the hardships of cooperatives.
Earlier, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. boasted about the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs), noting that it has cushioned the heavy impact of rising petroleum prices in the country.
