The labor group Young Free Workers expressed deep disappointment over the Pasig Regional Trial Court’s intervention halting the implementation of the Metro Manila wage increase.
The court suspended NCR Wage Order No. 27, which was set to grant workers an ₱85 wage hike.
Norvin Gavino, interim president of the organization, stated that the ruling violates provisions of the Labor Code, which explicitly bars courts from interfering with wage board decisions.
Gavino added that the injunction is particularly disheartening because the wage increase had already been staggered into installments of ₱50 and ₱25.
He warned that this case sets a concerning precedent not just for Pasig, but for all regions if governance continues to favor capitalist interests over worker welfare.
